Peter Sarginson was born in Marske-by- Sea on the North Yorkshire coast and studied at Middlesborough College of Art and the Bath Academy of Art. He went on to become an Art Advisor to the West Riding of Yorkshire Authority and then spent many years as Principal of the internationally recognised West Dean College of Arts and Conservation, part of the Edward James Foundation, in Sussex.
When Peter retired to his native Yorkshire he returned to his love of painting. His work was inspired by his lifelong observation of light, his love of trees and the patterns created on the seashore by the elements.
In the years leading up to his death in 2017 Peter was prolific and created beautiful, sensitive works that have received wide acclaim. He exhibited at Messum's in Cork Street, London, at galleries throughout the North, including Zillah Bell and held numerous private exhibitions.
When he died in 2017Peterleft behind the legacy of his paintings, each of which contains a little bit of his soul.
